Activity Timeline

Track how a brief evolved across document versions — who aligned, who raised concerns, and what changed along the way.

Overview

The Activity tab inside a brief shows the full arc of your team's alignment activity, grouped by document version. Instead of a flat list of votes and comments, you see activity organized by the version of the brief it relates to. If someone raised a concern on Version 3 and it was resolved by Version 4, the whole progression is visible in one scroll.

The Activity tab updates instantly. New votes, status changes, and comments appear as soon as they're submitted.

How It Works

  1. Open the Activity tab — Inside any brief, click the Activity tab in the document panel.

  2. See the team overview — At the top, a circular progress indicator shows the proportion of aligned votes versus concerns. Green when everyone is aligned, yellow when there are outstanding concerns.

  3. Browse by version — Activity is grouped under version headers (Version 1, Version 2, etc.). Each group shows the votes, status changes, and comments that occurred while that version was current. This makes it easy to trace decisions back to the document state they were made against.

  4. Review aligned members — The "Aligned" section within each version lists team members who voted the brief was ready, with their name, avatar, timestamp, and any comment.

  5. Review concerns — The "Concerns" section lists members who flagged issues, along with their comments explaining what needed resolution.

  6. Act on feedback — Use the comments to update the brief or continue the conversation in the chat panel. When a concern is resolved, the member can update their vote.

Key Capabilities

  • Version-grouped timeline: Activity is organized by document version, not just by time. You can see which feedback was given against which state of the brief.
  • Team overview: The circular progress indicator gives a quick visual summary of overall alignment.
  • Status changes: Brief status transitions (Draft → In Review → Aligned) appear in the timeline alongside votes, giving a complete history.
  • Instant updates: New votes and status changes appear immediately without refreshing.
  • Timestamps: Every activity item shows the date and time it was submitted.
  • Member identification: Each item shows the team member's name and avatar.

What Counts as Activity

The Activity tab tracks:

  • Alignment votes: A team member indicating they're ready ("aligned") or that they have concerns
  • Comments on votes: Notes left alongside an alignment vote explaining the reasoning
  • Status changes: Transitions between brief statuses (Draft, In Review, Aligned, etc.)

Using Alignment to Move Forward

The Activity tab is most useful before generating a plan. Share the brief with your team (see Sharing Briefs), ask them to review, and check the Activity tab for consensus.

The version grouping helps here: if a stakeholder raised a concern on an earlier version and the brief has since been updated, you can see whether their concern was addressed by the changes in a later version — and whether they've updated their vote.

Tips

  • Share the brief with stakeholders before generating a plan and ask them to vote. A brief with documented alignment is less likely to result in rework.
  • Use the version grouping to trace the evolution of a decision. If you need to understand why a requirement changed, the activity history shows the feedback that prompted each revision.
  • Review the Activity tab during standups to see who still needs to weigh in.
  • If a team member's concern has been addressed, ask them to update their vote so the overview reflects the current state.
